The 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) celebrated excellence in African film, television, and digital content, with some of the continent’s biggest stars emerging victorious at the glamorous ceremony held on Saturday night at Eko Hotel and Suites.
The event attracted actors, filmmakers, content creators, and entertainment personalities from across Africa, as outstanding talents were honoured for their contributions to the industry.
Among the major winners of the night were Uzor Arukwe, who clinched the Best Lead Actor award for his role in Colours of Fire, while Linda Ejiofor won Best Lead Actress for The Serpent’s Gift.
My Father’s Shadow emerged as the biggest winner of the evening, taking home the highly coveted Best Movie award alongside several other categories, including Best Director and Best Writing (Movie).
Bucci Franklin won Best Supporting Actor for To Kill a Monkey, while Lateef Adedimeji’s Lisabi (A Legend Is Born)secured the award for Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa).
Veteran actors Sola Sobowale and Kanayo O. Kanayo were also honoured with the Industry Merit Award, while Uche Montana received the Trailblazer Award.
