Tanzanian singer Juma Jux has denied allegations that he secretly fathered a child with a Tanzanian woman, describing the claims as false and saying he has taken legal steps to clear his name.
The singer, in a statement addressing the allegations, said the matter had previously surfaced and that he personally contacted the woman involved to establish the basis of her earlier claims.
According to Jux, the woman, identified as Musika, subsequently confirmed in her own words and voice that she had never been physically intimate with him and had never been in a romantic relationship with him.
Jux said Musika also asked him not to attach importance to the matter at the time.
However, following the resurfacing of the allegations and what he described as a change in the nature of the claims, the singer said he had decided to pursue the matter through legal channels.
He stated that the matter is now “in the hands of the legal authorities” and that further action would be taken against Musika.
Jux also appealed to media organisations and individuals to exercise caution and avoid circulating information that has not been verified.
He said: “I also urge the media and various individuals to refrain from spreading misleading information without being certain of the facts.”
The controversy comes just days after Jux and his wife, Nigerian actress Priscilla Ojo Mkambala, celebrated the first birthday of their son, Rakeem.
