The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has debunked a fake recruitment notice circulating on social media, warning Nigerians to disregard the misleading publication.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Service clarified that the purported recruitment announcement did not originate from the NCS and described it as entirely false.
The Customs Service urged members of the public to rely only on information published through its verified communication channels for updates on its activities, including recruitment exercises.
“The purported recruitment update currently circulating on some online platforms is fabricated and has no connection whatsoever with the Nigeria Customs Service,” the statement said.
The agency advised Nigerians to verify any recruitment-related information before sharing or acting on it, noting that fraudsters often exploit the public’s interest in government jobs through fake recruitment advertisements.
According to the Service, all official announcements are published through its verified platforms, including its official website and social media accounts under the handle @customsng.
The NCS also called on the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to recruitment scams, reiterating that any legitimate recruitment exercise would be announced through its official communication channels.
Recruitment scams have remained a recurring challenge in Nigeria, with fraudsters frequently impersonating government agencies to deceive job seekers into paying money for non-existent employment opportunities.
