The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cautioned Nigerians to beware of a fraudulent recruitment website impersonating the commission.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, INEC described the recruitment advert circulating online as fake and the handiwork of criminal elements seeking to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The commission said the advert directs applicants to a fake portal, www.inecrecruitment.com, which it does not operate.
“The impostor behind this illicit recruitment exercise also asked would-be respondents to log on to an equally fake portal – www.inecrecruitment.com to complete their applications. But INEC does not have any such portal,” the statement read.
INEC stressed that it is not currently recruiting and urged Nigerians to disregard the false advert.
“The Commission is not recruiting. We urge the public not to fall victim to the antics of these impostors,” it added.
