The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged eligible voters in Ondo State to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise before it closes on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
The appeal was made on Wednesday by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ondo State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, while monitoring the Phase Three extension of the voter registration exercise across the state.
As part of the inspection, Agboke visited several registration centres, including the INEC Registration Centre along Oda Road in Akure, St. Anthony RCM Primary School in Araromi, Akure, and St. Stephen Anglican Primary School in Idanre, among other locations.
The REC stressed the importance of the registration exercise, describing it as a civic responsibility that every eligible Nigerian should embrace.
He noted that while many citizens often accuse INEC of disenfranchisement during elections, those who fail to register despite having the opportunity are effectively excluding themselves from participating in the electoral process.
According to Agboke, only individuals whose names and personal details are captured in the official register of voters will be eligible to vote in future elections.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of participation recorded so far in Ondo State and encouraged more eligible residents to register before the exercise ends.
Agboke also urged those who have completed their registration to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), assuring the public that all PVCs for those who register before the deadline would be produced and made available well ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to ensuring that every eligible voter who registers within the stipulated period is given the opportunity to participate in the country’s next general election.
