Businesswoman Sharon Adeleke, sister of Nigerian music star Davido, has encouraged celebrities and public figures to embrace outfit repetition, urging them not to succumb to the pressure of wearing new clothes for every public appearance.
Speaking in a recent video, Sharon said the expectation for celebrities to constantly appear in new outfits creates unnecessary pressure, stressing that there is nothing wrong with wearing the same clothes multiple times.
She revealed that she recently attended an event wearing an outfit she had previously worn despite objections from members of her team.
According to Sharon, she had no new outfit prepared for the occasion and decided to rewear one from her wardrobe, even after her team advised against it because people had already seen her in it.
“I had an event last Sunday, and I didn’t have anything made for it,” she said.
“My team objected to my decision to wear something I had previously worn because they had seen it before and would see it again. Nevertheless, I wore it.”
She urged fellow celebrities not to allow societal expectations or public opinion to dictate their fashion choices.
“Don’t allow anyone tell you that you can’t wear the same things twice. I’ll re-rock as often as I want. I refuse to allow anyone to put undue pressure on me,” she said.
Encouraging a more practical and sustainable approach to fashion, Sharon added:
“Don’t be scared to wear the same outfit twice. Re-rock as often as you’d like.”
Her remarks have sparked conversations on social media, with many users applauding her message and calling for a shift away from the culture of excessive fashion consumption and unrealistic expectations placed on public figures.
