A resident of Kawel community in Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, Daniel Nanle, has narrated how his pregnant younger sister was killed when armed attackers stormed a Primary Health Centre where she had been admitted for delivery.
The attack, which occurred on Sunday night, reportedly claimed the lives of 22 people, including health workers, patients, and security personnel.
Speaking during a condolence visit by the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo, Nanle said his sister, Larai Danjuma, had been taken to the health facility after going into labour.
According to him, she was receiving care in the labour ward when the attackers invaded the facility and opened fire, killing her alongside other patients and medical personnel.
“My immediate younger sister was married to Mr. Danjuma Damial. She was taken to the hospital because she was due for delivery. Unfortunately, the attackers came and killed her,” Nanle said.
He described the incident as devastating and appealed to both the state and federal governments to strengthen security measures to prevent further attacks on communities in the area.
“I am appealing to the state government and the Federal Government to intervene and ensure that such incidents do not happen again,” he added.
The latest attack has heightened concerns over the recurring violence in parts of Plateau State, with residents calling for urgent action to protect lives and restore peace in affected communities.
