The Delta State Police Command has arrested a man in connection with the death of his girlfriend, whose lifeless body was discovered inside his apartment in Edjeba Community, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at a residence on Ajidi Street, where the suspect, identified as Adedamola Michael Oyewole, lived.
According to reports, the deceased, a student, had been in a relationship with the suspect and was known to frequently visit his residence. Friends of the victim alleged that shortly before her death, she contacted them in distress, claiming that her boyfriend was harming her.
The friends said they attempted to call her back, but she did not answer. They also contacted the suspect, who allegedly told them that she was not with him.
Residents said the landlord became alarmed after hearing screams from the apartment and alerted security operatives. Police officers who responded to the scene reportedly discovered the woman’s body inside the apartment with severe injuries.
The victim’s remains were evacuated and deposited in a mortuary, while the suspect was taken into custody for questioning.
Friends of the deceased have since taken to social media to mourn her death and demand justice. One friend claimed the victim had called for help during the incident but that they were unable to reach her in time.
According to residents, the deceased was last seen in the community on Monday, June 22, purchasing food items, reportedly for a meal she intended to share with her boyfriend.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, said investigations were ongoing.
“It is confirmed. As for the claim that he is involved in internet fraud, I am not aware of that,” Edafe stated.
The police have not yet released further details on the circumstances surrounding the death as investigations continue.
