Vice President Kashim Shettima has inaugurated a state-of-the-art banquet hall built by the Kaduna State Government, describing the project as a reflection of deliberate leadership and institutional development.
Speaking at the event in Kaduna on Tuesday, Shettima reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the state, noting its strategic importance in Nigeria’s political and socio-economic landscape.
“We understand the place this great state occupies in the anatomy of our nation, which is why we have returned to Kaduna repeatedly in recent months with projects, policies, and promises renewed by action,” he said, adding that the state remains central to national growth.
The Vice President praised Governor Uba Sani for combining infrastructure development with efforts to strengthen governance institutions, stressing that sustainable progress depends on both.
He noted that the newly inaugurated facility would enhance high-level engagements, policy discussions, and ceremonial events, while also positioning Kaduna as a hub for regional and international conferences and exhibitions.
Shettima further stated that the project reflects a governance approach focused on accountability, public trust, and inclusive development.
In his remarks, Governor Sani said the banquet hall represents more than a physical structure, describing it as a strategic investment in institutional capacity and public participation.
According to him, the facility sits on 2.7 hectares of land with a built-up area of about 5,000 square metres and can accommodate 1,300 people in theatre-style seating and 1,000 guests for banquet events.
He added that the hall is designed to host international conferences, exhibitions, and diplomatic meetings, aligning with the administration’s vision of positioning Kaduna as a centre for global engagement, investment, and culture.
Former governor Ahmed Makarfi commended the project, describing it as a significant achievement delivered within a short period. He also urged the government to recognise past leaders for their contributions to the state’s development.
Similarly, former Vice President Namadi Sambo lauded the initiative, calling it a strategic investment in the state’s modernisation and governance framework.
Kaduna State, which has faced security challenges in recent years, including banditry, farmer-herder clashes, and kidnappings, remains a key focus of federal interventions due to its economic potential as both an industrial and agricultural hub.
