Gunmen Kill Nine Passengers in Plateau Bus Attack

No fewer than nine passengers have been killed after gunmen opened fire on a commercial bus at Dungus Junction in Kuru community, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The attack reportedly occurred at about 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2026, when the bus, which was heading to Jos, stopped at the junction to drop off passengers.

The attackers reportedly opened fire on the vehicle, killing nine passengers, while several others sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to hospitals for treatment.

Survival

A member of Operation Rainbow was among those reportedly killed in the attack.

Residents and community sources confirmed the incident, while the Plateau State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the attack as of the time of reporting.

The attack occurred amid reports of other deadly incidents in Mangu and Riyom local government areas of the state, with at least 13 deaths reported across the three locations.
