Retired US Police Sergeant Suspected of Killing Wife and Daughter Before Taking His Own Life

A retired police sergeant in the United States has allegedly shot and killed his wife, a former senior police officer, and their 24-year-old daughter before turning the gun on himself in California.

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at the family’s residence on Strawberry Circle in Marin County, near Mill Valley. Authorities responded shortly after 5 p.m. following reports of gunfire and found three adults dead inside the home.

The deceased were identified as Kevin Mannix, 68, his wife, Ann Elizabeth Corriea Mannix, 65, and their daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Mannix, 24. Ann was a retired deputy chief of the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD), while Kevin retired from the department in 2018 after 27 years of service.

Investigators believe Kevin shot his wife and daughter before taking his own life. However, authorities said the investigation was still in its early stages, with autopsies scheduled to establish further details surrounding the deaths.

SFPD Chief Derrick Lew expressed sorrow over the deaths, describing the incident as a tragedy for the victims’ family, friends and former colleagues. He also acknowledged Ann’s contributions to the department, where she made history as the first woman to serve on and lead its SWAT team.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office said there was no known threat to the wider community as investigations continued into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
