President Bola Tinubu has approved the provision of new Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) for traditional rulers across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, disclosed this on Saturday during a Rainbow Coalition rally held at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja.
Wike said the gesture was aimed at recognising the important role traditional rulers play in preserving cultural heritage and maintaining peace in their communities.
He also said the President had approved measures to strengthen traditional institutions in the FCT, noting that some traditional stools had remained unutilised for the past 27 years. He urged the traditional rulers to ensure they receive their vehicles before December.
The minister further announced the donation of four buses to youths in the FCT and disclosed that an interactive session with young people from the six area councils would hold on November 10.
He also promised to hold a separate meeting with persons living with disabilities.
At the rally, Wike urged political supporters to mobilise voters ahead of the January 16, 2027 elections, calling on them to ensure victory at their polling units, wards and local government areas.
He expressed support for Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda for the FCT Senate seat, John Gabaya for Abuja North and Danladi Chiya for Abuja South, insisting that the residents would not repeat what he described as the political mistakes of 2023.
