Plateau state Government processes over 4,000 land applications in record time

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong said over 4,000 land
applications has been processed since the formal commissioning of the
Plateau Land Administration on Geographic Information System PLAGIS, The
Governor stated this during a stake holder’s meeting at the Hill
Station Hotel in Jos with officials of the State Ministry of Land,
Survey and Town Planning.

The stake holders meeting was organized to address issues that
hinders land administration in the state despite the improvement and
success recorded after the commissioning of the Plateau Land
Administration’s Geographic Information System PLAGIS in June this year.

Governor Simon Lalong said 4,000 applications on land tittles have
been processed after the commissioning of PLAGIS which is a far cry from
Government’s expectations. The Governor also called on the stakeholders
to identify and arrive at a decision to tackle issues militating
against their attainment of effective land administration in the state.

Plateau State Commissioner for Land, Survey and Town Planning, Festus
Fuanter maintain that the processed 4,000 land titles represent one
high point of Governor Lalong’s first year in office saying this is
because the figure is the most significant improvement recorded in the
last 10 years and promise that Government is determined to overcome the
challenges of Land administration in the state.

The Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Gyang Buba in his speech stressed that the
customary right of land owners should be streamline into any decision on
land administration reform in the state.

Governor Lalong presented certificates of occupancy to few of the first 4,000 land owners whose applications where processed.

The meeting was moved into a technical session to draft a communiqué.
