Hausa Fulani PDP Forum Voices Dissatisfaction Over Appeal Court’s Decision in Plateau State
The Hausa Fulani PDP Forum has joined the chorus of disapproval following the recent Appeal Court judgment in Plateau State, which resulted in the dismissal of 2 Senators and 5 House of Representatives members from the state.
Abdulkareem Ahmed Yaro, the Secretary of the Hausa Fulani PDP Forum, expressed the group’s discontent during a gathering in Jos today, emphasizing their belief that their mandate had been unjustly taken away. Yaro insisted that the appeal court should uphold fairness and draw attention to the perceived injustice faced by Plateau State, particularly in the dismissal of elected PDP members over a pre-election matter.
Although not a legal expert, Yaro highlighted the discrepancies in the outcomes of similar cases, indicating that something seemed amiss in the handling of Plateau State’s case.
Lubabatu Ali, also known as Lubaba Jos, echoed the sentiments, expressing dismay at the courts’ dismissal of the Peoples Democratic Party’s mandate in Plateau State. She lamented that despite the massive turnout to vote for the PDP in the 2023 election, the courts seemed to go against the will of the people.
Ali acknowledged the positive impact of the PDP-led administration in Plateau State under Barr Caleb Mutfwang, refuting claims that the administration harbored any hatred towards a particular religion or tribe.
Warning of potential future protests, Ali stated that any further injustice, particularly as more cases are to be heard for the state House of Assembly and Governorship Election, would likely lead to heightened public demonstrations.
The Hausa Fulani PDP Forum’s expression of dissatisfaction adds to the broader discontent and protests witnessed in Jos City, where citizens rallied against the Appeal Court’s decision that ousted PDP members from the National Assembly in Plateau State. The ruling has become a focal point of concern and debate, raising questions about the fairness and consistency of the legal processes involved.
