The release of details of the second tranche of Paris Club
refund to states by the federal government, Plateau Regeneration Group
yesterday said it was confident that Governor Simon Lalong would not
disappoint workers and citizens of the state as the funds would be
judiciously used for what it was meant for.
The group in a statement signed by its national president, Nagelu
Garba, and secretary, Pius Hommen, also described Lalong as a
transparent governor.
“Governor Lalong will do the needful and clear all outstanding welfare
issues especially pension and gratuity. “We the people of Plateau State
are convinced that Lalong’s administration will bring change to Plateau
State during its four year tenure. He has done well by clearing backlog
of salaries.
He also made proper use of the bailout funds and first tranche of
Paris Club funds refund that was sent to the state. “Since assumption of
office, Lalong has established standards for governance which include
equitable distribution of resources, balancing in appointments and
promotions, respect for due process and repositioning the state on the
path of greatness. “The Lalong administration has been able to sustain
the ideals of practical governance predicated on our core values and the
fear of God, upholding the rule of law, preserving our unity, pursuit
of a just and egalitarian Plateau, strengthening of
institutions, commitment to social justice and economic progress, and a
people oriented governance process devoid of nepotism and selfishness.
“All these have significantly contributed in restoring confidence
within the polity while at the same time providing the much
needed dividends of democracy to the citizenry even in the face of
limited resources. “As a group we commend Lalong for the establishment
of efficiency unit which has
ensured fiscal discipline and substantial savings of funds to the
government. We believe that Lalong will continue to step up actions in
delivering dividends of democracy. As a group we call on the people of
Plateau to continue to support the Lalong-led administration at all
times,” it said
