Police Arrest Three Men Over Alleged Same-Sex Acts in Oyo State

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three men in Saki over allegations of engaging in same-sex sexual acts following an intelligence-led operation.

The suspects were identified as Ayomide Lukeman, 22; Shuaib Aremu, 22; and Abdul-Rasheed Mufeed, 23. According to the police, the arrests followed intelligence received on September 29, 2026, concerning the alleged involvement of some individuals in what the command described as “unnatural sexual conduct.”

In a statement issued on Friday, October 16, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the Commissioner of Police directed the Command Monitoring Unit to verify the information and take appropriate action, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.

The police alleged that preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects admitted to engaging in homosexual acts. According to the statement, two of the men reportedly confessed to having had sexual relations with the third suspect on several occasions, with the latter allegedly regarded by them as their “wife.”

The command said investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the allegations and determine whether other individuals were involved in the case.

The police reiterated their commitment to conducting the investigation professionally, impartially and in accordance with the law, adding that appropriate action would be taken based on the findings.

The suspects’ alleged involvement remains subject to the ongoing investigation, and no court judgment has been reported in the case.
