The opening launch of Vote Lalong And Tyoden Again (VOLATA) was held on Wednesday February 14th at Great Links Hotel Jos.
Below is the speech of the state chairman, VOLATA2019, CMR. Yatu Promise.
We give praise and honor to the Almighty God for this day specially appointed unto us by His grace and mercy.
It is our singular and most profound honor to once again welcome you all to this auspicious occasion which is the first since the inception and coming to light of VOLATA2019 support group; a movement birthed by coalition of progressive and patriotic minds under the aegis of FOPPSA (FORUM OF PAST PROGRESSIVE STUDENT’S ACTIVISTS).
It is not in doubt that the hitherto journey that brought about the Rescue government was predicated and driven on the wings of equity and unity; an idea that broke the jinx of all forms of bigotry and political indiscipline that would have thrown the state into a total juncture of disaccord. However, the rest is now history as not only did Plateau people collectively battled in unanimity but heaven heard and approved the petition wich gave rise to the emergence of Rt. Honorable Simon Bako Lalong and Prof. Sonni Tyoden as Governor and Deputy, respectively.
Conscientious and committed to fulfilling their campaign promises against all odds, taking cognizance of the comatose economy handed over to them at the national and even at the state, the ball of Governance was yet, set to roll even then; backlogs of salaries the past Government owed Civil Servants and pensioners were cleared and going forward, payments of salaries as at when due became the watch word of the Lalong/Tyoden Administration so much, so that it earned the Governor the national recognition with a popular name; BANK ALERT, a development that has since taken away sleep from the eyes of hideous wailers.
Similarly, in less than just three years of starved economy and meager IGR, virtually all uncompleted and abandoned projects inherited from the past administration are 95% close to completion, turning the state into a mass construction site, with even newly initiated legacy projects littered across the 17 Local Governments and so much more within the city centre.
The Education, Agriculture, Tourism and Health sectors are not left out, as genuine overhaul of structures and policies have been deliberately induced to check all hiatus that has bedevilled their growths and productivity ratio in time pass.
The massive empowerment of youths both artisans and even professionals into different fields of skills acquisition training and empowerment programmes by the rescue administration through PLASMIDA, with priority of participation giving to the PYC is an indication that the government is in dear concern of the future of her future leaders.
The creation of the Plateau Peace Building Agency and sincerity of the Government as regards to handling security, with the help of God has transformed the state into a pilgrimage of unity and peaceful coexistence. This and many more have indeed proven beyond conscious doubts that the Lalong/Tyoden 5 points policy thrust which embodies; Education, Youth and Human Capital Development, Security and Good Governance, industrialization and wealth creation, Health and tourism, Agriculture and rural development are divine arrangements duly considered to meet the needs of the common citizens.
Appeased by these estimable performance of the rescue administration, FOPPSA deemed it as imperative to pass a vote of confidence on the APC led administration of Lalong/Tyoden hence, the campaign; vote Lalong and Tyoden Again (VOLATA), with the sole sentiment of mandating the Governor and his Deputy to run again in 2019 in order to continue and consolidate better on the good works they have started. The foregoing informed the idea of VOLATA2019 HEART TO HEART CAMPAIGN.
Ladies and gentlemen, in guiding us towards achieving our vision in this crusade; just like the great commission in the holy book, we must go out to tell the rescue story by ourselves, we must not allow opposition or mischievous individuals blackmail the integrity of this administration. The nagative propagandas against the Government that has gained so much sympathy, even in most churches must be abated with a radical and immediate tête-â-tête campaign proceedings, basically amongst youths and women just to correct the narrative.
These, we’re are focused and determined to achieve through;
*Grassroots youths/women mobilization and voter education.
*Potential identification and harnessment through intellectual and informative symposia.
*Confidence building through sensitization workshops and rallies.
*Rescue consolidation through widespread documentary of all achievements and adequate information dissemination to basically individuals using digital methods of feedback messages.
Our objectives are aimed at developing an intellectually sound, informed and unbiased political citadel of mostly young people and women in the APC with the amplitude to deliver and handle leadership responsibilities based on capacity building through mentoring with respect to the interest of the party and the Lalong/Tyoden unity ticket.
Lastly, may we appeal to all and sundry who share in this harmonious propencity of getting the rescue administration reeleceted to put hands on deck in the very best interest of the party and most importantly the Plateau progress; that is the only way we must go in order to succeed and this brings to thought an old adage that says: “if you want to go fast, go alone but if you want to go far, go together.” VOLATA 2019 is simply about togetherness and the unity train.
