The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to professionalism and excellence as preparations intensify for the 2026 Captain-to-Major Written Promotion Examination.
Peter Malla, Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army, charged members of the examination panel to uphold strict integrity, fairness, and professionalism throughout the exercise.
Speaking on May 3, 2026, at the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, where he also serves as Examination President, Malla stressed that discipline and transparency are critical to the credibility of the promotion process.
He warned against any form of compromise, insisting that the evaluation must rigorously assess candidates’ leadership qualities, critical thinking abilities, and capacity to address contemporary security challenges.
Malla further noted that the promotion examination aligns with the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, aimed at building a more professional, agile, combat-ready, and resilient force. He described the exercise as a vital step in preparing officers for higher responsibilities within the military hierarchy.
The TRADOC commander also directed panel members to strictly adhere to the Nigerian Army Charter for Promotion Examinations 2022 (Revised), expressing confidence in a transparent and credible outcome. He appreciated the Chief of Army Staff for continued support toward strengthening institutional standards.
Earlier, Adebayo Adegbite, Commandant of the host institution, reaffirmed the school’s readiness to ensure a smooth and successful conduct of the examination, describing the opportunity to host the exercise as a privilege.
