Businessman Isaac Fayose has urged his elder brother, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, to reject his recent appointment as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), describing the position as inappropriate for someone of his political stature.
President Bola Tinubu announced Ayo Fayose’s appointment on Monday, July 20, as part of the constitution of boards for several federal agencies and parastatals.
Reacting in a video shared on social media, Isaac Fayose argued that the appointment was disrespectful to the former governor, insisting that his brother deserved a higher office based on his political experience and public service record.
According to him, a former two-term governor should not be appointed to chair the board of a government agency, especially when others with what he described as less extensive political credentials had been appointed to more prominent positions.
“A whole Fayose? Board? Even Reno Omokri, whose generation hasn’t produced a governor before, was made an ambassador. So many people on the ambassadorial list do not have your CV,” he said.
Isaac also referenced the political rise of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, claiming that Wike had served as a personal assistant while Ayo Fayose was already governor, and questioned why his brother was not considered for a ministerial position.
“They didn’t even make you a minister. They didn’t make Wike board chairman or head of a parastatal, and now they made you chairman of a board. Reject it,” he added.
Ayo Fayose has not publicly responded to his brother’s remarks or indicated whether he intends to accept or decline the appointment.
