After White Wedding, We’re Moving to a Bigger Home – Davido
Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is in the middle of his “5IVE Alive” North American tour, which kicked off on July 11 in Los Angeles and will wrap up on November 20 in Atlanta. The tour has taken him to cities across the U.S. and Canada, including San Francisco, Houston, Toronto, and New York.
Ahead of his White wedding in Miami, Florida, this weekend — reportedly between August 9 and 10 — Davido took a break to speak with NoireTV-GlobalblackTV about the tour, his family, and his future plans.
The singer described the tour experience as “amazing,” noting that his exposure to both Nigerian and Western cultures from a young age has helped him appreciate the growing acceptance of African music, fashion, and cuisine abroad.
Comparing his current run to his 2023 “Timeless” tour, Davido said this time, the production has been elevated, crediting music director Cobhams Asuquo for taking the live experience “to another level.” All shows, he added, have been sold out.
On collaborating with Omah Lay, who joined him for a Toronto show, Davido called the night “legendary,” describing their joint track as the biggest on the album.
Reflecting on his career origins, the “Omo Baba Olowo” crooner acknowledged that while his privileged upbringing was often used against him, his talent and independence — having left home at 15 — ultimately won over audiences.
Davido, whose family has a strong political legacy in Osun State, said he has no interest in running for office. “Too much stress in politics, man,” he laughed.
He revealed that after his White wedding — his third ceremony following a court and traditional wedding — he plans to announce an African Stadium Tour, followed by a European tour, a documentary, and an executive producer role in an upcoming movie.
“It’s a good moment in life,” he said. “After the wedding and tour, I’ll take a break, chill with the family, and move to a bigger crib. I’m stepping up, man.”
