CJN to Inaugurate NAJUC Conference on Judiciary’s Role in Deepening Democracy

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, is set to inaugurate the National Conference and Capacity Building programme of the National Association of Judiciary Correspondents (NAJUC) in Abuja on Thursday, April 23.

The CJN will serve as keynote speaker and special guest of honour at the conference, themed “The Role of the Judiciary in Deepening Democracy in Nigeria.”

Also expected at the event is the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, who will attend as a special guest.

The conference will be held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Auditorium of the Federal Ministry of Justice and hosted by NAJUC Chairman, Kayode Lawal of Daily Post.

President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Afam Osigwe (SAN), is scheduled to present a paper on “NJC as Watchdog of the Judiciary.”

According to a statement by NAJUC Secretary-General, Paschal Njoku, the event will commence at 10 a.m., with participants expected to be seated by 8 a.m.

The statement added that selected academics and key stakeholders will deliver lectures on various topics aimed at enhancing the knowledge and professional capacity of judiciary correspondents.

NAJUC noted that the annual conference is designed to strengthen members’ competence in reporting judicial matters and urged full participation, as attendees are expected to cover the event for their respective media organisations.

The event is expected to attract prominent legal practitioners, judges, and media professionals.
