British actor Owain Rhys Davies has died suddenly at the age of 44, his family has announced.
The Welsh film and television star was best known for his role in Twin Peaks, where he portrayed Agent Wilson. He also appeared in several other productions, including The OA, Impact Winter, Alice Through the Looking Glass, and A Serial Killer’s Guide to Life.
In a statement released by his brother, Rhodri, the family said the news came as a shock and described his passing as sudden.
“It is with profound sadness that my father and I share the news that my brother, Owain, has passed away,” the statement read. “This news will come as a great shock to many. The reach of Owain’s love, friendship, and generosity was vast.”
The family added that while the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, they understand he passed “suddenly, naturally, and peacefully.”
Rhodri also noted the outpouring of tributes and messages received since his passing, describing them as a reflection of the impact he had on many lives.
“Owain was fortunate enough to have more than one family,” he said. “Alongside his biological one, he built extraordinary, family-like bonds with many of his closest friends, colleagues, and loved ones.”
He added that they take comfort in knowing how widely he was loved.
Davies’ most recent project was an independent film titled La Fantastia. Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues and fans across the entertainment industry following the news of his death.
