Islamic groups in Kano State took to the streets on Saturday to protest recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Nigeria’s security situation.
The demonstrators were responding to Trump’s claim of a Christian genocide in the country and his warning that the U.S. military might intervene if the Nigerian government fails to address the killings of Christians.

Protesters carried placards with messages including “We condemn Trump’s threat to attack Nigeria,” “There is no Christian genocide in Nigeria,” and “America wants to control our resources.”

Trump had recently designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over the alleged persecution of Christians. The Nigerian government, however, has denied these claims, describing the notion of a Christian genocide as false.
The protest underscores local opposition to foreign interference and reflects rising tensions over narratives about religion and security in Nigeria.
