Initiative, a humanitarian NGO that
rally support for  widows, has
donated food items, clothing and grinding machines to widows in  Gui, a
rural  community in the  Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The News Agency
of Nigeria (NAN) reports that  over  1,000 less-privileged women and children

and beverages.

The NGO also empowered five widows with
Grinding Machine each to start up a small business in the community.

The founder of
the organisation, Mrs Violet Olalekan-Alabi, said that the gesture was part of
the humanitarian initiative of the NGO, geared towards empowering the widows.

She said that
the move was in line with the group’s core value of  providing basic needs
and  empowering single mothers and widows
in rural areas.

She added that
“this initiative is specially for widows and single mothers in rural
communities because that  is where  extreme poverty is, as many of
them earn little or nothing as income to meet their needs.

“Although we are
committed to providing assistance to single mothers in all categories, widows
in rural areas need empowerment and succour.”

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to NAN expressed gratitude tothe NGOfor providing succor in their lives.

Mrs Chinyere Iruoma Idris,
a mother of five, while thanking the founder of the NGO and her team, promised
to make judicious use of the money given to her for the success of her
business.

She said: “This
is that miracle I have been waiting for, and I will make good of the  money from this grinding machine to feed and
take care of my children.

The Head of the Community,Mr
Abdrahman Sarki, expressed appreciation to Olalekan-Alabi and her team for
touching the lives of his subjects positively.
