A severe windstorm has caused widespread destruction across several communities in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, damaging homes, food storage facilities, and property worth millions of naira.

The affected communities include Sambera, Jeroki, Becinga, Nassarawa, Tunga Soja, Tauken Mage, Tunga Muminu Oro, and Ciwan Wanzam.

The member representing Suru Constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Faruku Abubakar Maisudan, disclosed this after visiting the affected areas to assess the level of destruction and sympathise with residents.

According to him, the windstorm struck on Wednesday night, destroying and severely damaging several houses, forcing many families to relocate.

“My heart goes out to you in this difficult moment, and I urge you to accept it as a trial from Almighty Allah,” the lawmaker told victims during the visit.

He, however, confirmed that no lives were lost in the incident.

Maisudan assured residents that he would raise the matter before the state government and Governor Nasir Idris to secure urgent intervention and relief support for affected families.

“I will ensure that the appropriate authorities are informed of your situation so that assistance can reach you as quickly as possible,” he said.

Officials of the Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency, who accompanied the lawmaker during the assessment tour, also pledged immediate support and relief materials for the affected communities.
