Controversial Nigerian street-pop singer Portable has survived a road accident in Ogun State while on his way to his newborn son’s naming ceremony.

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday night after the singer experienced brake failure while driving to the event.

According to Portable, he narrowly escaped death after steering his vehicle into a ditch to avoid colliding with another vehicle on the road.

In a video shared on Instagram, the singer thanked God for sparing his life during the accident.

“My fans, join me in thanking God. The accident happened while I was driving out this evening,” he said.

“I was not injured and nothing happened to me. Suddenly, I discovered the car brakes failed. I thank God my people came to the scene and not to carry my body.”

He added that preparations for his son’s naming ceremony had already been made, including the purchase of two cows for the celebration.

“For my son’s naming ceremony, I already bought two cows. I thank God a trailer was not on the road when the accident happened,” he stated.

Portable and his wife, Bewaji, recently welcomed their newborn child, with the naming ceremony reportedly featuring the distribution of free Ankara aso ebi materials to guests.

According to reports, Bewaji gave birth on Friday, May 1, 2026, while Portable was involved in a celebrity boxing event with Carter Efe.
