Former Arsenal star and football pundit Paul Merson has predicted that Arsenal will edge Manchester City to win the Premier League title this season.
Merson said he believes Mikel Arteta’s side are in a strong position to finish top of the table, adding that the Gunners may not even need to win all their remaining matches to secure the title.
Arsenal are scheduled to face West Ham United, Burnley, and Crystal Palace in their upcoming Premier League fixtures.
Writing in his Sportskeeda column, Merson said Manchester City were fortunate to avoid dropping more points in their recent match.
“It could have been much worse for City if Jeremy Doku hadn’t scored that late goal against Everton,” he wrote.
“I still think Arsenal will win the league, and they might not need to win every game.”
Arsenal currently sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League table, although Manchester City still have a game in hand.
This weekend, the Gunners will take on West Ham United, while Pep Guardiola’s side face Brentford.
