Why I Stand With Saraki – Terfa Naswem

Before the 2015 general election was conducted, I was an ardent supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari. After Buhari won the election, he set his leadership mechanism in motion and in the process started displaying many “ardent-support diluting” attributes that waned my ardent support for him. The Senate President, Dr.  Abubakar Bukola Saraki was a man I never supported or liked. In fact, I criticized him on many occasions even shortly after he became the Senate President. I kept on criticizing him until when Buhari, Tinubu and their cohorts started fighting against him for their selfish interest.

Instead of Buhari to make peace with Saraki and work in harmony with him to move Nigeria forward, he, Tinubu and their cohorts were busy fighting a war against him which they knew they will not win to the detriment of Nigerians.

If Buhari, Tinubu and their cohorts had succeeded in planting those they wanted as the  Senate President and Speaker, House of Representatives, they would have held Nigeria to ransom. In fact, they would have pushed for the actualization of most of their selfish interests that Saraki opposed.

Regardless of the political party Saraki might join, I will continue to stand with him whether he remains in APC or defects to PDP.

I stand with Saraki because he has saved democracy. I stand with Saraki because he has shown to Buhari and his cohorts that the interest of the people matters. I stand with Saraki because he has shown to Buhari that the lives of innocent Nigerians killed indiscriminately matter. I stand with Saraki because he has shown to Buhari that tyrannical government in a democratic setting retards development. That is why Buhari has performed far below expectation.

Buhari may not be seriously financially corrupt like most politicians, but he is seriously corrupt in other areas hinging mostly on nepotism, ethnicity and religion.
