The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has commenced arrangements to conduct a rerun of its primary election in 11 wards of the Jos East/South Federal Constituency, in compliance with a High Court order directing the party to repeat the exercise.

Speaking during a press briefing at the APC State Secretariat in Jos on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the State Chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature, said the party had accepted the court ruling and was prepared to comply with the directive despite being the ruling party in the state.
Bature explained that the exercise, initially scheduled to commence at 8:00 a.m., had been slightly delayed to allow the party to brief journalists before proceeding to the field. He disclosed that members of the electoral and appeal committees, alongside ad hoc staff, were ready to oversee the process.
He expressed optimism that the exercise would be concluded on Wednesday and that the results would be available for announcement by the evening, subject to the successful completion of the process.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Rerun Electoral Committee, Hon. Karu Simon Elisha, who said he was representing the APC National Secretariat, stated that the rerun was intended to ensure transparency, fairness and equal opportunities for all eligible aspirants.
Elisha said the party was committed to providing a level playing field for members and ensuring compliance with its electoral guidelines as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
According to him, only aspirants who participated in the previous primary election would be eligible to contest in the rerun. He added that the committee had put the necessary arrangements in place to conduct the exercise across the 11 wards.

The electoral committee chairman further disclosed that the appeal process would remain open on Thursday and Friday, October 29 and 30, to allow any aggrieved aspirant to submit complaints for consideration by the Appeal Committee.
He assured party members and stakeholders that the committees were prepared to address concerns arising from the exercise, expressing confidence that the process would be conducted transparently and in accordance with the party’s guidelines.

The rerun comes as the APC seeks to resolve issues surrounding its primary election for the Jos East/South Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
