Turkish authorities say the death toll from the earthquakes centered in southeastern Turkey rose to 3,419, bringing the total number of killed, including those in northern Syria, to more than 5,000 and 20,000 injured.
The initial magnitude 7.8 tremor early on Monday brought down buildings as people slept and was followed by a magnitude 7.6 earthquake hours later amid 312 aftershocks.
So far many aids have been delayed due to severe weather conditions (heavy snowfall), destroyed roads, and air traffic, as rescuers continued to attempt to travel to Turkey’s hard-hit southeast and northern Syria.


Meanwhile, the World Health Organization has stated that about 23 Million people can be impacted as they express worry over areas where information is not coming in.
However, information gotten from social media according to the BBC has been very helpful in identifying individuals, especially babies.


So far ten areas in Turkey have been declared disaster zones and 70 countries have volunteered to help in any way they can as the Turkish president declare seven days of national mourning.
