Troops Rescue 10 Kidnap Victims Across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 10 kidnapped civilians in separate operations across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States, as the military intensifies efforts against terrorist and kidnapping networks in the North-West.

According to a statement issued on August 20, 2026, by the Joint Task Force North-West, the rescues followed intelligence-driven operations and rapid responses between August 18 and 19.

  • Sokoto: Five victims were rescued in Isa LGA after troops confronted suspected terrorists during a patrol. Two motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing attackers were also recovered.
  • Kebbi: Three kidnapped persons were rescued in Danko Wasagu LGA following an intelligence-led search operation.
  • Zamfara: Two victims were rescued in Tsafe LGA after troops forced the terrorists to flee. The victims had sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to a medical facility for treatment.


The military said the rescued victims are being reunited with their families and receiving necessary assistance.

The Theatre Command also urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing operations and improve the protection of lives and property.
