President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a stern warning to bandits, kidnappers, and sponsors of terrorism, declaring that those who continue to threaten Nigeria’s peace and security will face decisive action from the government.
Speaking during his Democracy Day address on June 12, the President said opportunities for criminals to surrender would not remain available indefinitely.
“To bandits, kidnappers, and sponsors of terror: Surrender or face the full force of the Nigerian State. These windows of surrender will not remain open forever. No mercy will be shown to those who trade in the blood of Nigerians.”
Tinubu’s remarks come amid ongoing security challenges across several parts of the country and growing public concern over terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.
The President also cautioned Nigerians against attributing criminal activities to particular ethnic groups, stressing that insecurity should not be politicised or used to deepen divisions.
“At a time like this, let us not assign blame or point fingers. Crime has no ethnicity. We must stand united and be assured that the enemies of our nation shall soon be history.”
He expressed confidence that the country would ultimately overcome its security challenges and emerge stronger.
“We will triumph over terror and continue to build a more prosperous nation.”
Tinubu urged citizens to remain united in supporting efforts to defeat terrorism and criminality, emphasizing that national unity remains essential to restoring peace and stability across Nigeria.
