The grand finale of the “Sing for Plateau” talent development initiative brought together entertainers, creatives, government officials, and residents in Jos for a vibrant celebration of creativity, culture, and youth empowerment.
The event, organized by the Plateau State Government under the theme “One Plateau, Many Talents, One Voice,” was held on Thursday at the Usiju World Event Center, attracting a large audience from across the state.

Young talents showcased their skills in singing, dancing, poetry, spoken word, comedy, and digital content creation, highlighting the richness of Plateau State’s creative industry.
A total of 102 contestants participated in the competition, with all participants receiving certificates of participation in recognition of their dedication and contributions to the initiative.
At the climax of the event, contestant Mic Fix emerged as the overall winner, securing the N1 million grand prize after a rigorous selection process conducted by judges and entertainment industry professionals.
Representing Governor Caleb Mutfwang at the occasion, Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Piyo described the programme as more than just a talent competition, saying it was a platform to celebrate the creativity, resilience, and potential of Plateau youths.
She noted that the Mutfwang administration remains committed to supporting initiatives that empower young people, promote entrepreneurship, and strengthen the creative industry as a tool for economic growth and social transformation.
According to her, talent development extends beyond entertainment and can provide sustainable livelihoods, inspire innovation, and contribute positively to society.

Speaking earlier, the Convener of the programme and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Creativity and Entertainment, Barr. Ezra Jinang, said the initiative was designed to rebrand Plateau State and challenge negative perceptions by giving young creatives an opportunity to tell positive stories about the state through their talents.
Jinang disclosed that the competition attracted entries across various categories including singing, dancing, poetry, and digital content creation. He praised the transparent selection process handled by industry experts and encouraged youths to embrace creativity, patriotism, and excellence.
Also speaking, the General Manager of the Plateau State Tourism Corporation, Chuwang Nyam Pwajok, described the programme as a strategic platform for discovering and nurturing young talents.
Pwajok stated that many successful figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry have roots in Jos, reaffirming Plateau State’s reputation as a hub for artistic excellence and creativity.
He commended the Plateau State Government for its continued support for the creative industry through partnerships and programmes aimed at creating opportunities for youths.
Guests at the event were entertained with electrifying performances throughout the evening, underscoring the depth of talent among Plateau youths.
Organizers expressed optimism that “Sing for Plateau” would become an annual platform for talent discovery, cultural promotion, and youth development in the state.
Special recognition awards were presented to iconic musicians who have put Plateau State on the map. Those who received the awards included Dr Panam Percy Paul, CEO of Tapshak Entertainment Dorcas Bentu, Dantala Jos amongst others.
The event ended with renewed calls for greater investment in the creative industry as a means of driving economic growth, promoting social cohesion, and projecting Plateau State positively to national and international audiences.
