Tinubu Says Umrah Experience Has Renewed His Determination to Build Prosperous Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said his recent visit to the Holy Kaaba in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, has strengthened his determination to serve Nigerians and work towards building a prosperous nation.

Tinubu made this known on Monday, November 2, 2026, while reflecting on his spiritual journey to Saudi Arabia to perform the lesser Hajj (Umrah), during which he and members of his delegation were granted access to pray inside the Holy Kaaba.

The President expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for granting him the rare privilege, describing the experience as historic and deeply meaningful.

He disclosed that his prayers centred on seeking wisdom and resilience to continue serving Nigerians, adding that he believed his prayers had been answered.

“Well, I asked for wisdom and resilience to continue to serve the people. I know that prayer has been granted,” he said.

Tinubu also reflected on the teachings of the Holy Quran in Surah Aal-Imran, Verse 26, which emphasises that Almighty Allah is the ultimate owner of power and authority, noting that political leadership is a trust that must be exercised responsibly and with humility.

He reaffirmed his commitment to what he described as Project Nigeria, saying he remained determined to promote prosperity, national development and opportunities for young Nigerians.

“My commitment to Project Nigeria is higher. I am determined to usher in prosperity and fully develop the country, consistent with the wish of Allah and the support of the people,” he stated.

Speaking on the economy, the President expressed optimism about the country’s economic outlook, describing the foundation as solid and saying Nigeria had emerged from a difficult period.

He also stressed the need for sustained investment in young people, noting that the decisions taken by present leaders would determine how future generations remember them.

The President’s delegation included Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi; Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate; and the governors of Borno, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Yobe and Kwara States.
