Nine people have been killed after a private jet crashed into a residential neighbourhood in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States.
The crash occurred at about 12:50pm local time on Sunday, November 1, 2026, near Military Trail and 10th Avenue North in the Greenacres area.
The aircraft, identified as a Bombardier Learjet 60, was travelling from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas to the Bahamas when it plunged from the sky and exploded into a massive fireball.
Dramatic dashcam footage circulating online captured the moment the aircraft descended rapidly before crashing near a busy roadway, sending thick black smoke into the air.
US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed that all nine people aboard the aircraft died in the crash.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also confirmed that there were no immediate reports of deaths or injuries among people on the ground.
According to reports, air traffic control recordings captured the pilot declaring an emergency shortly before the crash. The pilot reportedly informed controllers that the aircraft was descending at an alarming rate before warning that they were about to crash.
Authorities disclosed that the aircraft had encountered turbulence, icing and precipitation before the situation deteriorated.
Following the crash, emergency responders rushed to the scene, while authorities closed nearby roads and evacuated approximately 600 residents from a neighbouring mobile home community as a precaution.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The identities of the nine victims had not been officially released as of the time of reporting.
