Tension flared at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday as activist and publisher, Omoyele Sowore, engaged in a heated exchange with a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) over an attempt to address journalists داخل the courtroom.

In a video circulating online, the senior lawyer confronted Sowore, insisting that the courtroom was not an appropriate venue for media engagement.

Sowore, however, pushed back, accusing the lawyer of intimidation. “You’re intimidating me and insulting my intelligence because you’re introducing yourself to me as a SAN. I also have my own SANs,” he said, maintaining that no law bars individuals from speaking to journalists within the courtroom.

The SAN disagreed, stressing that such conduct was improper. He noted that in his nearly three decades of legal practice, he had never witnessed such an occurrence, and urged journalists to relocate the interaction outside the court premises.

“The court must serve as a venue of justice, not a conference,” the lawyer stated.
