Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, was on Tuesday escorted out of a courtroom by security operatives following his arraignment on alleged money laundering charges.

A video circulating online showed the former governor leaving the courtroom under heavy security presence. He appeared calm and briefly acknowledged supporters who had gathered at the court premises.

Attempts by journalists to obtain comments on the proceedings were unsuccessful, as security personnel swiftly guided him into his waiting vehicle without addressing the media.

Earlier, journalists and members of the public were reportedly denied access to the courtroom during the hearing, with no official explanation provided for the restriction.

Meanwhile, the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna State has adjourned hearing on El-Rufai’s bail application to March 31, 2026, following arguments presented by both the prosecution and defence counsel.
