Suspected gunmen have killed a 28-year-old vigilante member, identified as Goyok Jamok, in Magi Mbar village, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, when troops of Sector 5, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), deployed in Mbar, responded to a report of an attack on the vigilante member.
According to security sources cited by Zagazola Makama, the troops arrived at the scene and discovered that Jamok had been shot dead.
The assailants reportedly fled after sighting the approaching troops, abandoning their mission.
Following the incident, the victim’s relatives evacuated his remains for burial.
Security personnel have reportedly commenced efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The circumstances surrounding the attack and the identities of the suspected assailants have not been disclosed.
