Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has revealed that the team is still waiting for the $100,000 reward and other commitments pledged by the Federal Government following their victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Speaking in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade expressed disappointment over the delay in fulfilling the promises.
When asked if the money had been paid, she replied:
“We have not received our money, but hopefully, it would be paid. They have not paid; all the promises, we have not received anything.”
Ajibade led Nigeria to a record-extending WAFCON title in Morocco. After their win, President Bola Tinubu conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of Niger (OON) on the players and technical crew. He also announced a $100,000 cash gift and a three-bedroom flat for each player.
While receiving the team at the Presidential Villa, Tinubu lauded their “indomitable spirit of resilience, determination, and courage,” describing the victory as a historic moment for Nigeria.
