The Anambra chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Governor Chukwuma Soludo over his recent visit to President Bola Tinubu, describing it as a desperate move to revive his political relevance ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election.

In a statement on Wednesday, Okechukwu Modebe, spokesperson of the Nicholas Ukachukwu/Uche Ekwunife campaign organisation, said the meeting amounted to “the last kick of a dying horse.”

“This latest attempt to posture for the cameras with Mr President cannot erase four years of misgovernance, disconnection from the grassroots, and political miscalculations,” the statement read. “Parading such meetings as endorsements insults the intelligence of Anambra voters.”

Soludo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), met with Tinubu on August 12 and pledged his support for the president’s 2027 re-election bid. He arrived for the closed-door meeting wearing a cap emblazoned with Tinubu’s insignia.

The APC accused the governor of spinning the visit as an endorsement that “does not exist” and vowed to remain focused on both the governorship poll and the August 16 Anambra South senatorial re-run.

Modebe urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct credible polls, warning that “the days of business-as-usual in Anambra politics are over.”
