The Sokoto State Government has sealed the state campaign office of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over a dispute concerning the ownership of the building.
The Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Barrister Nasiru Dantsoho, announced the development on Monday, November 2, 2026, while leading government officials to the premises.
Dantsoho explained that the decision followed a review of the property’s Certificate of Occupancy and other relevant documents, which reportedly identified the defunct Savannah Bank as the registered owner.
He said the government had written to the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), which oversees the assets of the defunct bank, seeking clarification on the property’s current ownership. However, the corporation had yet to respond to the inquiry.

The commissioner also linked the closure to a recent confrontation involving supporters of different political parties, during which some individuals allegedly disrupted activities at the ADC office.
According to him, the premises would remain sealed until the ownership dispute was resolved and the government received clarification from the NDIC.
He urged anyone claiming ownership of the property to submit relevant documents for verification, adding that the building would be handed over to its legitimate owner once the necessary investigations were completed.
Dantsoho further warned that anyone attempting to gain unauthorised access to the sealed premises would face legal action, including possible prosecution.
The ADC had not officially reacted to the development as of the time of reporting.
The closure comes amid heightened political tension in Sokoto State, with reports of allegations involving attacks on ADC supporters by operatives of the state-owned security outfit.
