Three More Oyo Government Officials Resign from Makinde’s Administration

Three senior officials in the Oyo State Government have resigned their appointments under Governor Seyi Makinde, in the latest wave of departures from the administration.

The officials are the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo; Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke; and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Sunday Olugbenga Falana.

Their resignations were communicated on Monday, November 2, 2026, with all three decisions taking immediate effect.

Ojo submitted his resignation through the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde. He expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve but did not disclose the reason for his departure.

Similarly, Oyeleke, a former two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and former local government chairman, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the governor.

Unlike the other two officials, Oyeleke gave a reason for his decision, saying he was no longer comfortable with the working environment in the administration, which he described as unconducive to effectively pursuing the aspirations of his people.

Falana, who served as a member of OYSIEC, also resigned through a letter addressed to the governor via the Chief of Staff. He thanked Makinde for the opportunity to serve but did not state why he was leaving.

The latest departures come weeks after the resignation of the governor’s former Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, who served for over five years, and former Director-General of the Oyo State Due Process Office, Tara Adefope.

The resignations come amid growing political activities and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Bisi Olopoeyan, has commented on the recent departures, making allegations about possible investigations by anti-graft agencies after Makinde leaves office. However, no evidence was provided to substantiate the claims.

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission is also preparing for the state’s local government elections scheduled for December 29, 2026.
