Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy has successfully defended his title at the Masters Tournament, securing a second consecutive win at Augusta National Golf Club and further cementing his place among golf’s elite.

With the victory, McIlroy joins legendary figures such as Tiger Woods, Nick Faldo, and Jack Nicklaus as one of the few players to win the prestigious tournament in consecutive years.

While his triumph last year was marked by the emotional achievement of completing a career Grand Slam, this year’s win highlighted McIlroy’s resilience under pressure.

The 35-year-old endured a turbulent tournament, surrendering a six-shot lead during the third round and trailing early in Sunday’s final round. However, he mounted a decisive comeback during the famed Amen Corner stretch, ultimately finishing at 12-under 276.

The final round evolved into a tense contest as McIlroy battled past Cameron Young and Justin Rose. He reclaimed the lead with a crucial birdie on the par-3 12th hole and extended it with another birdie on the 13th following a powerful 350-yard drive.

Despite a nervy finish—including a wayward tee shot on the 18th that resulted in a bogey—McIlroy’s final-round score of 71 proved enough to secure a narrow one-shot victory.

World number one Scottie Scheffler finished as runner-up after delivering a remarkable bogey-free weekend, though a series of pars on the back nine prevented him from closing the gap.

Meanwhile, Justin Rose’s bid to become one of the oldest champions in Masters history faded after costly bogeys on the 11th and 12th holes.

The win marks McIlroy’s sixth major title, drawing him level with golfing greats Phil Mickelson and Lee Trevino, further solidifying his legacy as one of the sport’s all-time greats.
