PSG Star Kvaratskhelia Faces Lengthy Spell Out After ACL Rupture Against Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is set to undergo surgery after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during the club’s 4-2 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

The French champions confirmed the injury in a medical update on Wednesday, October 21, stating that the Georgian international would undergo an operation in the coming days.

Kvaratskhelia sustained the injury during Tuesday’s encounter at the Parc des Princes and was forced off the pitch shortly before the hour mark after appearing to be in considerable pain. He was unable to put weight on his right leg as he received assistance from medical staff.

The injury is a significant setback for PSG, with the 25-year-old expected to be sidelined for an extended period. The club has not yet provided an official recovery timeline, but an ACL rupture typically requires several months of rehabilitation and could rule him out for the remainder of the season.

Kvaratskhelia was not the only PSG player injured during the match. Forward Ousmane Dembélé suffered a left-thigh injury, while captain Marquinhos sustained an injury to his right thigh. The club said both players would remain under treatment for the coming weeks.

Despite the injuries, PSG secured an impressive 4-2 win over Barcelona, maintaining their strong start to the Champions League campaign.
