Donald Trump Jr. Reportedly Opposed Iran War, Urged His Father Against Military Action

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of US President Donald Trump, reportedly opposed the United States’ war with Iran from the outset and raised his concerns directly with his father.

According to a report by The Atlantic, published on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, two people who have spoken directly with Trump Jr. said he had consistently expressed opposition to the conflict and had made his position known to the president.

Trump Jr., who is publicly known as a strong supporter of his father, has reportedly kept his views on the war private to avoid a public disagreement with the president.

A person close to him told The Atlantic that he would not publicly break with his father over the issue, adding that his private opposition to the conflict would not surprise those familiar with his views.

The report noted that Trump Jr. has long been sceptical of American military interventions abroad. He was also close to conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who had opposed the war with Iran before his death.

The reported disagreement comes amid growing divisions within the president’s political movement over the conflict, with other prominent figures also expressing concerns about US involvement in another Middle Eastern war.

Trump Jr.’s spokesperson declined to comment on the report, while the White House did not directly address the claims about his private conversations with his father. A White House official, however, maintained that Iran had been severely weakened and said the conflict would end soon.

The report highlights a reported difference between the president’s military policy and the private views of his eldest son, who has generally remained publicly loyal to his father.
