The Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has said electricity supply has improved in several parts of Nigeria, noting that Nigerians now enjoy more power than in previous years.

Bwala made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television on Thursday, April 16, where he compared the current state of electricity to what was obtainable in 2015 and 2023.

According to him, there have been noticeable improvements in power generation and distribution in some areas of the country.

“In terms of generation and distribution, there are parts of the country where you see improvement. In the FCT, you don’t have light problems. Probably people complain about the money, the tariff,” he said.

He added that recent legislative efforts have opened up the electricity sector, allowing greater participation by state governments, local authorities, and private investors.

“We have created the legislative environment that has given rise to the capacity of states, local governments, and even the private sector to participate in both generation and distribution of power,” Bwala stated.

He maintained that, overall, electricity supply has improved, saying, “Nigerians have more power now than in 2015 and 2023.”

His comments come amid ongoing public debate over electricity tariffs, supply consistency, and broader reforms in Nigeria’s power sector.
