Nigerian singer and songwriter, Korede Bello, has shared his thoughts on how poverty affects human potential, saying it limits creativity, learning, and the ability to dream beyond survival.

Speaking in a reflective video shared on his Instagram page, the “Godwin” crooner described poverty as one of the greatest threats to curiosity, noting that people struggling to survive often have little room to explore their creative abilities.

“Think about this, right? Is Elon Musk going to be so concerned about space travel if his rent was due or if he didn’t know what he was going to eat tomorrow?” Korede asked.

He explained that many people who could change the world never get the chance to do so because their minds are consumed by hunger and the pressure of survival.

According to him, if African youths had access to basic needs and stable resources, the continent would witness a massive transformation in innovation and development.

“If money wasn’t an issue, what would you learn? What would you think about? Because the truth is, it’s a privilege to follow your curiosity when you’re not worried about surviving,” he said.

Korede added that the most successful people in the world are often self-taught, curious, and passionate learners who go beyond traditional education.

He concluded with a powerful statement, saying:

“When you stop surviving is when you start living. If you’re still surviving, you never get to live.”
