Popular Nigerian comedian Akpororo has defended fellow comedian Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Real Warri Pikin, following the backlash over her viral encounter with singer Timaya.
Akpororo urged Real Warri Pikin to stop apologising to Nigerians, saying the only person she owed an apology was her husband, Ikechukwu Asuoha.
The controversy began after a video from the 2026 AFRIMMA event in Dallas, United States, showed Timaya lifting Real Warri Pikin on stage during his performance of his hit song, Ukwu.
The video sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians questioning the appropriateness of the interaction because Real Warri Pikin is married.
She later apologised to her husband and fans, explaining that she had been backstage when Timaya invited a woman to join him on stage. She said she acted spontaneously and did not initially realise that the singer intended to lift her.
Reacting to the controversy, Akpororo urged her not to allow social media criticism to overwhelm her, insisting that she should not continue apologising to Nigerians over the incident.
He maintained that her husband was the only person she needed to answer to regarding the incident.
Real Warri Pikin, who won the Best Stand-Up Comedian award at the AFRIMMA event, had earlier described the online reaction as painful but acknowledged that some people were genuinely concerned about what they saw.
