PRESS
STATEMENT

The
above mentioned organization is a coalition of youths from the seventeen (17)
Local Government areas of plateau state. These area intellectuals that cut across
all tertiary institutions on the plateau, they are non partisan.

Today,
we the aforementioned decided to embark on a Peace Walk in solidarity with all
who lost their lives in 2016 as a result of insurgency in the North East and
other terrorist activities in Southern Kaduna and other parts of the country.
We sympathize with the victims of these unfortunate events that characterized
2016.

It
is on this premise that we wish to state the following;

1.
We condole with the families of those who lost their lives and pray the souls
of the departed rest in peace.

2.
We wish to call the attention of relevant security agencies to consolidate on
the successes recorded in the ongoing fight against insurgency in the North
East and to replicate same in Southern Kaduna and other turbulent areas in the
country.

3.
We call on State Governments across the country to join forces with the Federal
Government to intensify more proactive measures to curb future occurrences.
More guided utterances should be encouraged to console communities already
affected.

4.
We call on all Nigerian Youths to become responsible, not to allow themselves
to be used as tools for destruction. Government and all well meaning Nigerians
should join hands to consolidate on efforts aimed at employment creation and
skills acquisition programmes to empower our teeming youths for a better
future, to take their minds off the possibility of being used to cause mayhem –
to further prevent the breakdown of law and order.

Long
Live Plateau Youths

Long
Live Plateau State

Long
Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
