
Plateau United FC 7 match unbeaten run in the Nigerian professional football league NFL, came to an end on Sunday 12th at the “nest of the champions” Akwa Stadium after they were handed a 2-1 defeat by Akwa United.
The host, Akwa United wasted no time as they took an early lead from Pyagbara, 6 minutes into the game after a goal mouth scramble, the resumption of the second half saw them scoring another goal by Alhassan Ibrahim, after a beautiful exchange that beat the Plateau defense. Late into the game, Plateau United tried by pulling a goal back through substitute, Chima Ndukwu, but it was not enough as the home team held resolute for a 2-1 victory. The Jos darling team still remain table tops despite the defeat as they head into week 9 of the NFL. Plateau United will next play host to Niger Tornadoes at the Rawng Pam Township Stadium on Sunday 19th, 2017.
